The United Way of Southwest New Mexico works to provide the most effective venue for giving and effecting change in our community, consolidating our collective resources for a targeted approach to improve lives by focusing on supporting programs that address the very building blocks for a good life:
Education – helping children and youth achieve their full potential through support of programs dedicated to developing quality child care, school readiness, academic completion and personal development.
Income – promoting financial stability and independence through support of programs dedicated to developing individuals ability to maximize income, increase savings and build financial assets for long term stability.
Health – improving people’s health through support of programs dedicated to improving preventative/everyday health care and teen health including being drug-free, at a healthy weight and reducing pregnancy rates.

More than 200 local agencies are included in this searchable database with details about their respective programs and services. The Community Connect Help Database is our community’s comprehensive resource for connecting our community with the help they need in real time.
You can also call the United Way of Southwest New Mexico office Monday through Friday to speak to someone regarding a service or program if you don’t have regular access to the internet.
The Community Connect Time Bank is where individuals looking to make a contribution of time and skills are matched with the programs and services that need them most. The United Way of Southwest New Mexico works with area organizations that are in need of volunteers with specific sets of skills and experience to find a match with a member of the community who is looking to offer their valuable time to a worthy cause.
The Community Connect Time Bank compiles volunteer opportunities and tracks volunteer hours and recognizes those volunteers making the biggest impact on our community and can be accessed online or in person at the United Way office.
The United Way of Southwest New Mexico works to be a regular source of support and facilitation to the local nonprofit agencies who are working everyday to improve the condition of our community one person at a time.
This means holding monthly meetings where non-profit executives can network, share successes, discuss challenges and find opportunities to collaborate in order to make the best use of our communities charitable resources; offering per-service training for volunteers who are interested in becoming active members of non-profit boards, continuing education workshops for board members and staff and working year round to support the people who make opportunities for us to improve our community possible.
